Opera House
Christmas is almost here. We have been doing so many exciting things in our classroom. We have been slacking a little in the blogging area. We wanted to post some of our pictures from the Opera House in Eldon. Thank you to Mrs. Youngblut for supplying me with some pictures!

What an exciting week we have had here at Cardinal! Yesterday we got to dress as aliens and astronauts to kick off the book fair. Thursday afternoon we had an assembly to honor the students of the month. The student of the month in 2nd grade was Hunter Taylor. Congrats Hunter! Today some of our parents came and ate breakfast with us. It was a nice way to start the morning. This morning, students from Ms. Cronbaugh's Class gave a presentation to our class on "How to make a turkey." The students did a great job. Some of us are receiving our Flat Stanley back. He has been quite the world traveler! It is so exciting to learn about all of the interesting places in our world.

Wow! It is snowing this morning! We can hardly believe it! What crazy weather we have been having. In math we have been learning about tens and ones. We learned that a digit is a number and the answer to an addition problem is called the sum. In social studies we are still making our pockets for our Thanksgiving book. It will have eight pockets when we are finished. Mrs. Ferrell started using http://www.classdojo.com/ . It is a classroom management system. We really like it a lot. We all have a little icon that looks like a monster. They are really cute!

WOW! We have been very busy! We haven't made a post forever. Friday we went to Jefferson County Park. It was so much fun. We played the squirrel game. We had to act like squirrels and collect our corn for the winter. It was hard. We couldn't even use our thumbs because squirrels don't have thumbs. We had to get the corn using only our fingers. In the afternoon we went rock hunting and insect hunting. We knew a lot about the insects because we are studying about them. We have Painted Lady Butterflies in the pupa stage right now in our room!

Today our class participated in O.R.E.O. Project 2011(Our Really Exciting Online Project.) www.jenuinetech.com. Reece was the best stacker in the room. He won with a stack of 22 cookies. We also made sculptures with our cookies. In science we decided to see if the Oreo cookies would float. At noon we tried to break a Guiness Book record. Many of the staff and students at Cardinal met at the track to walk together. You can read more about this in our newsletter. We have had a busy day!
